Detailed description of the network diagram software used
In this project, we choose Microsoft Visio to create network diagram. Microsoft Visio is a diagramming and vector graphics application and is part of the Microsoft 365 family. Normally, it is used to create diagram types such as flowcharts, org charts, floor plans, network diagrams, UML diagrams, mind maps and more. Microsoft Visio also provides numerous templates to allows users to start their diagram. Not only this, it provides a vast library of shapes and stencils for different purposes, and it is easily use, user only need to drag and drop these elements onto the canvas to build their diagrams efficiently.
Screenshots and Explanation of the Steps in Creating the Network Diagrams Using the Software
Step 1: First, we are going to create the subnet of normal area with 10 units computers, 2 units printers, and 1-unit wireless access point. Drag the 10 units PC shape from shapes panel to canvas and align it.
Step 2: In shapes panel, go to “Network and Peripherals”, find the printer, and drag 2 unit into canvas. Also, drag 1-unit wireless access point. Then, name them with appropriate name.
Step 3: We need use a switch to allow these devices to communicate with one another. Drag the switch from shape panel and connect each device to switch.
Step 4: Use the rectangle shape with no fill, and black border to surround this subnet, and label it with “Normal Area”, and remark the network address, usable host range, and broadcast address.
Step 5: Repeat these steps to create network diagram for subnet of tournament area.
Step 6: Drag the router, modem, a computer for staff and cloud shape (represent Internet) to canvas.
Step 7: Name each component with appropriate name and connect the switch to router. The admin computer connects to router, and the router connect to modem, then modem to the cloud which is represent Internet Service Provider.
Step 8 : Remarks the network address, usable host range, and broadcast address for staff subnet, and label the cable.
